On Thursday, January 10, Group Acorde's full-evening production of Origins will present original works reflecting collaborations between contemporary dance choreography, live jazz music, and visual art.
Origins brings together artists from different roots, backgrounds, communities and art mediums into a space where the origin of the work is the same: a willingness for each voice to be heard and the possibilities that arise when artists learn from each other about different art mediums than the ones they are used to working with.
Group Acorde's innovative creative process invites each artist involved to communicate, share and exchange ideas with each other even when not in their own art medium. Origins will include choreography by Jennifer Mabus, Roberta Paixao Cortes, and Lindsey McGill; compositions by Andrew Leinhard, Thomas Helton and Seth Paynter; and a set and installation by visual artist Andre Amaral.
Each of these artists has dedicated many years to developing their art forms in Houston and this performance reflects the diverse artistic culture of our community. Ticket prices start at $15 and can be purchased online or in-person. You don’t want to miss this!
