The Alley Theatre, one of America’s leading not-for-profit theatres, is a nationally recognized performing arts company led by Interim Artistic Director James Black and Managing Director Dean R. Gladden. Home to a Resident Company of actors, the Alley creates a wide-ranging repertoire and innovative productions of classics, neglected modern plays, and premieres. A recipient of the Special Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre, the Alley has brought productions to Broadway, 40 American cities including New York’s Lincoln Center and internationally to Berlin, Paris, and St. Petersburg throughout its 70-year history.
To continue its legacy, on January 20th, Alley Theatre will present “The Carpenter.”
In “The Carpenter,” Dan is a self-made man from blue collar Houston while his fiancé is from Dallas—Highland Park, to be exact. As they arrive at her father’s palatial mansion for their wedding, Dan starts to get cold feet. When the carpenter shows up to build the wedding gazebo, looking suspiciously like Dan, things take a huge turn—mistaken identities, family secrets, accidental partner swaps and laughs.
Developed during the 2017 Alley All New Festival, the world premiere of “The Carpenter” comes from the author of the Alley’s hit Hand to God. Tickets are $26-$69 and can be purchased online through the official Alley Theatre website.
