Located in the heart of Houston, Russian Cultural Center provides access to diverse cultural events, continuing education, and networking opportunities to the Texas community. With that being said, the Russian Cultural Center Our Texas proudly presents a new exhibition by well-known artist-illustrator Igor Karash. Igor Karash is an accomplished artist and designer, renowned for his contributions to contemporary illustration.
This unique collection of illustration work is bordering with satirical graphics mixed with dark grotesque absurdist visions. It reveals artistic reflection on and rejection of overly romanticized views of the western creative class towards the Red October—Bolshevik Coup in Russia in October of 1917, the event which not only created much social, political, and economical damage in the past, but also resulted in stalled democratic reforms in modern Russia.
RCC had already showed the artworks of Igor Karash in the prior seasons, and many of our guests remember his unique illustrations for the "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy. If you enjoyed those works, then this exhibit is the perfect one to attend. Limited edition prints and books are available for sale as well.
Our Sponsors include Houston Arts Alliance, Texas Commission on the Arts, TMK IPSCO, Gruman Family, Donna Collins, Gene Burd, and Russian General Store.
At Westmount at Copper Mill Apartments in Houston, Texas, we pride ourselves on informing our residents about all the upcoming events our beautiful community has to offer. Don’t hesitate to join this event on Tuesday!
